Our Founder
Katia Miheyeva
Ten years ago Katia founded UP THE WALL ART, (Which is now part of Amariko) providing an exceptional wallpaper installation service.
All this from a girl who grew up in Uzbekistan and became the National Dressage Champion at 17 while winning a scholarship to University.
At twenty, Katia came to Australia and fell in love with the country. From dressage to horse racing, riding for some of Australia’s best trainers including Bart Cummings, David Hayes and Gay Walters, before embarking on a career in I.T.
While working in I.T. Katia learned a lot about business, relationship and product management, when she commenced working for a leading I.T. business becoming the Account Manager for Harvey Norman and JB Hifi stores across NSW and ACT.
Having never forgotten how much she loved helping her mother install wallpaper, Katia studied Interior Decoration at Coco Republic’s Design School and has a huge passion for Interior Design.
With the launch of AMARIKO, Katia has incorporated her passion for Interior Design and the ‘Power of Wallpaper’ delivering a truly unique service delivered with a warm-hearted approach.

Katia has also been involved in giving back to the community and helping those who need support along the way. She has a special affinity for the Twilighter’s in our society and feels very strongly that those who have had the privilege of living longer have a lot to offer and teach the younger generation. Katia is trying to instil these values in her young son and together they support the elderly in their local community with home-cooked meals and volunteer at local orphanages whenever they travel to other countries.
Who are the ‘Twilighters’?
They are those at the forefront of defining their twilight years as a new phase in life that can bring freedom, purpose and enjoyment.
In the past people who were over the age of 65 were referred to as ‘seniors’, ‘retirees’, or ‘the oldies’ – those who had reached ‘old age’. What we think of as old has changed over time and it will continue to change as people are living longer, healthier lives. At AMARIKO, we’ve come up with the term, ‘Twilighters’ because we feel it reflects the reality that although this age group are within their twilight years, there isn’t the same connotation of slowing down, losing relevance in society or being shut away in an aged care institution.
Twillighters are still living their best, most vivacious life as the years go by – staying healthy, fit and vital and living longer and having a lot of fun and quite often, still in the workforce. Our fun-loving twilighters are the trailblazers of the new retirement. They are the baby boomers who have rewritten societal rules at every stage of their life – and retirement is no different. They are at the forefront of defining their twilight years as a new phase in life that can bring freedom, purpose and enjoyment.
AMARIKO is honoured to partner with Homes of Hope Fiji that helps the lives of many and is a charity near and dear to our Founder, Katia’s heart.
Katia has been travelling to Fiji for many years and she is passionate about helping the country and its people through supporting ‘Homes of Hope’.
‘Homes of Hope’ is the only organisation of its kind in Fiji and the South Pacific that provides long-term care, support, and holistic restoration for girls, young women and children who are victims of or vulnerable to forced sex.
They lead the fight in the South Pacific to promote freedom from stigmas and the depreciation of women.
‘Homes of Hope’ works with communities to protect girls by assisting community leaders to develop their own action plans which include safety nets and referral pathways.
The ultimate goal is to create a culture of freedom in Fiji and the South Pacific where girls, young women and children can be free from the stigmas and cycles of forced sex.
Three percent of profit from each AMARIKO project will go to support the vital work of ‘Homes of Hope’.
